I’ve been friendly with the Kronos Quartet since my record store days and was thrilled to collaborate with them on two projects combining music and moving image.

For the world premiere of Beyond the Golden Gate (2024), Gary L. Baker and I created a short film inspired by Pas de Deux, using layered movement and gesture to echo the rhythm and emotion of the score. The work premiered at SFJAZZ Center on June 20, 2024.

In 2026, I collaborated with Xuan Films on visuals for the world premiere of Three Bones, a multidisciplinary program exploring the histories of Indigenous, Gullah-Geechee, and Chinese American communities in the United States through music, storytelling, and visual art. Our contribution centered on knotting traditions shared across these cultures, reflecting my belief that craft is a universal language.
